At the end of August 2013, probably the largest sporting festival in Switzerland and one that is certainly steeped in tradition, will be taking place – the Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival. It is being held in Burgdorf, a town in the Emme valley in the heart of the region where Emmentaler was born. Some 250,000 spectators are expected to watch the festival, which is held only once every three years and will also see the crowning of the country’s only monarch – the King of Swiss Wrestling. Emmentaler Switzerland is a proud partner of the festival and is looking forward to welcoming wrestlers and fans alike to the home of Emmentaler to witness a festival and a sport which, like Emmentaler AOC, are a slice of Switzerland.
