Chinese Delegation discovers the World of Emmentaler AOP
In March, the Emmentaler Show Dairy welcomed guests from China. During his visit to Switzerland, Xiao Jie, Deputy Chairman of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, at the request of Chinese Ambassador Wang Shihting, visited the Emmentaler Show Dairy in Affoltern in the Emmental region.
The delegation, led by Xiao Jie and Wang Shihting, consisted of around 20 Chinese guests who spent approximately 90 minutes exploring the details of Emmentaler AOP cheese production with Daniel A. Meyer, President of Emmentaler Switzerland, and Frank Jantschik, Managing Director of the Emmentaler Show Dairy.
In addition to insights into the historical Stöckli from 1741, the primary interest was in the values and processes involved in producing authentic Emmentaler AOP. The Chinese guests were impressend by the manufacturing process. Before indulging in a tasting of regional specialties, Daniel A. Meyer and Xiao Jie jointly cut an 8-month-old Emmental AOP cheese on the cutting table and tasted it directly from the wheel.
